About 27.2 percent of the 778 degrees and certificates handed out by Honolulu Community College in 2017-18 were to students in construction trades programs, making them the most popular programs that year, according to the latest disclosure from the U.S. Department of Education.

The agency’s National Center for Education Statistics shows the public institution in Honolulu conferred 159 associate’s degrees and 53 certificates in construction trades programs.

But the single most popular program was for a associate’s degree in general construction trades. Data shows the school gave out 135 associate’s degrees in general construction trades, followed by 87 associate’s degrees in liberal arts and sciences/liberal studies and 53 certificates in carpentry/carpenter.

The college enrolled 3,541 students for 2017-18, all of whom were enrolled in undergraduate programs.
