The City and County of Honolulu announced on Mar. 30 that all city offices will be closed on Friday, April 3, in observance of the Good Friday holiday.

Essential services such as emergency medical, fire, lifeguard, medical examiner, and police will remain available during the holiday. The closure affects a range of city operations and public facilities across Honolulu.

According to the announcement, TheBus will operate on a city holiday schedule with information available at thebus.org. Skyline rail service will run its normal hours from 4 a.m. to 10:30 p.m., with rider details provided at honolulu.gov/skyline. Refuse collection and disposal sites including transfer stations, convenience centers, H-POWER facility, and Waimānalo Gulch Sanitary Landfill will remain open; more information can be found at envhonolulu.org.

Parks and botanical gardens are open to the public with guidelines listed at honolulu.gov/dpr/. Municipal golf courses also remain open; updated play details are posted at golf.honolulu.gov. The Honolulu Zoo is accessible during regular hours with visitor information available online at honolulu.gov/des/zoo/. However, the Neal S. Blaisdell Center box office will be closed for the day (information is posted at blaisdellcenter.com), and People’s Open Markets are canceled for the holiday.

All satellite city halls and driver licensing centers across Honolulu will be closed on April 3 as part of the observance.

Parking restrictions include limited parking in Lanikai from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. throughout the three-day weekend. On-street parking is free except for meters along Kalākaua Avenue by Queen Kapi‘olani Park, metered lots, and select Waikīkī streets (a full list is provided online). There will also be no contraflow traffic lane setups during this period.
