35.5% unemployed in Waipahu in 2017

Medium names 15

35.5 percent of Waipahu residents between 16 and 65 years old were unemployed in 2017, according to data obtained from the U.S. Census Bureau.

The percentage of unemployed residents was greater than the statewide total of 34.9 percent for this demographic group. In 2017 the total Waipahu population reached 33,779.

Out of 21,787 people who had a job, 251 were employed in the Armed Forces and 21,536 belonged to the civilian labor force.

The total unemployment numbers include residents of all ages who are not working.
