Cost of college went up for all students at Hawaii Pacific University

Tuition and fees rose 5.8 percent for 2018-19 at Hawaii Pacific University, according to recent data from the U.S. Department of Education.

Hawaii students paid $25,980 to attend the four-year private not-for-profit institution this year – $1,430 more than the $24,550 charged for 2017-18.

Data shows 98 percent of full-time undergraduates who started school in 2015-16 received student financial aid in some form. In all, 468 students received grants or scholarships totaling $6.3 million and 299 students took out student loans totaling more than $2.9 million.

Including all undergraduates (4,086), 2,228 students used grants or scholarships totaling $23.3 million, and 1,263 students took out $9.3 million in federal student loans.
