Honolulu Department of Parks and Recreation - Our Botanical Garden Staff Were Honored to Host the 2022 Biennial Tour for the International Palm Society Last Month

Happy Aloha Friday!

Our botanical garden staff were honored to host the 2022 Biennial Tour for the International Palm Society last month. Pictured is just one of the four groups, nearly a hundred folks total, who checked out Foster and Ho‘omaluhia botanical gardens during the tour.

Our arborists and horticulturalists have done an impressive job expanding our collection of palms at these gardens. In particular, our efforts to hand pollinate the rare double coconut and the high number of the endangered Fijian endemic Neoveitchia storkii were a major highlight.

Our botanical garden staff are dedicated to not just maintaining our diverse amd lush gardens, but to also collaborating with other biologists towards education and conservation efforts. We like to call our botanical gardens “living laboratories” because that’s truly what they are.

Have a great weekend!
