82 coaches at institutions in Honolulu County earned $81,987 on average in 2022

Honolulu County’s 82 coaches earned an average salary of $81,987 in 2022, according to the U.S. Department of Education.

This is the highest average salary per county earned by coaches at Hawaii post-secondary schools during 2022.

Honolulu County is home to three post-secondary schools that paid coaches during 2022. Among them, University of Hawaii at Manoa stood out with the highest average coaching salary of $137,586.

Male coaches of men's teams received $114,697 on average in Honolulu County, while female coaches in charge of women's teams earned an average of $60,505.

Research from the Vanderbilt Owen Graduate School of Management found NCAA coaches are compensated like CEOs, with top coaches earning more than $1.5 million annually.
